Your Eyelines team

Neil Donnelly

Originally from Belfast, I moved across the water to train at the University of Wales in Cardiff and graduated in 1992. After my Pre-Registration and qualification in West Wales, I have worked mainly in London and the South East of England. Although my two boys were born here, they definitely follow their parents and support Ireland on the rugby field. I enjoy being outdoors, whether in the garden, on the Golf course; or in winter, in the mountains with two planks of wood strapped to my feet. I enjoy watching most sports but also love reading a good book. My favourite author is Sir Terry Pratchett, although I am also a big fan of Tolkien- hence calling my dog Bilbo Baggins.

My goal is to provide the best quality eye care for you and your family.

Beth Hopkins

I work as the Dispensing Optician in practice. I originally studied Archaeology at the University of Exeter and got ‘a job’ in an opticians working as a Trainee Optical Assistant. I originally planned to do this for about a year and save for a car and driving license to do field archaeology however 9 years later I still don’t have a car or work in Archaeology. Instead, I have had some fantastic experiences within optics, studied and qualified as a Dispensing Optician and learnt about incredible advancements in the field. So, if you have any questions about your vision, glasses or eyes do pop in and say hello and I look forward to meeting you!

I handle the Admin and Financials in addition to assisting Antonia & Thea on the reception desk.

I like cats, coffee and crafting, when not at work I am often hammering silver to create jewellery or fighting with my sewing machine.

You will find me at the front desk of the practice, assisting Antonia. When I am not working I am probably at a photoshoot or ideally jet setting off on my travels .

england & Wales blind golf

Eyelines are proud to sponsor the England and Wales Blind golf Charity. Neil’s passion for golf and the nature of the charity makes it a perfect partnership. The Charity was founded in 1989 for Blind and visually impaired male and female golfers of all ages. Some have played golf prior to losing their sight some are new to the game; the charity provides all of them the opportunity to play enjoy and compete in the game.

More importantly for a lot of them it gives them hope - hope that they are not alone, hope against isolation and hope that there can be a future.

Neil started by sponsoring a hole at an event in Surrey two years ago, he went along to the event and was astonished by the players the guides and their stories. Since that first event Eyelines have become more involved financially and Neil volunteers at events and helps promote the charity and its work, and helps with competition category vision assessments.

If you want more information ask Neil – he is always happy to talk about his experiences or contact the charity directly.
