Presbyopia
Presbyopia is the condition that occurs when the eye loses its ability to focus. This usually occurs after the age of 40 when the lens inside the eye thickens and loses flexibility.
Symptoms
The onset of Presbyopia is usually accompanied by symptoms of reduced reading ability, tiredness and eyestrain and having to hold reading material further away.
Treatment
Presbyopia is normally treated with spectacles , either just for reading or as Bifocals or Varifocals . It can also be corrected with certain types of contact lenses.
