Myopia (Short Sightedness)
Myopia is when the light and the image focus in front of the retina instead of on it. This is due to the eyeball being too long or by the cornea being too steep.
Symptoms
Myopic people generally have problems seeing at distances but can see well at near.
Often it occurs in the early teens and is discovered when children have difficulty seeing the board at school.
Treatment
The visual problems can be solved by spectacles, contact lenses and by certain Refractive surgical techniques.

Myopic people can also have associated Astigamtism
